Founder Dr. Melissa Amos, DMD, began her journey into the world of facial therapeutics and dentistry at age 12, when she started working in her grandfather’s office. It was there that she discovered a love for blending healthcare with client-focused service to make every dental visit a positive experience.

​The dogwood tree represents hope and rebirth, and opening her own dental office was a new beginning for Dr. Amos to celebrate. In a wonderful coincidence, the dogwood is the state tree of North Carolina, the home of Dogwood Dental Spa.

Dr. Amos further refined the practice’s name to honor her grandfather, who inspired her to pursue a career in dentistry in Waxhaw. Her grandfather earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. Dr. Amos wanted to incorporate the letters “DDS” into the name of her dental clinic to honor him, and Dogwood Dental Spa was born.
